The RoleThe Consultant Colorectal Surgeon responsible for diagnosing and surgically treating disorders of the colon, rectum, anus, and lower gastrointestinal tract. The role involves managing both elective and emergency colorectal conditions using open, laparoscopic, and minimally invasive surgical techniques while ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with colorectal diseases and conditions.
- Perform elective and emergency colorectal surgical procedures, including minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgeries.
- Treat conditions such as colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, rectal prolapse, and bowel obstruction.
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide post-operative management and follow-up care to ensure optimal patient recovery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff.
- Participate in colorectal cancer screening and prevention programs.

Qualifications and RequirementsThe following qualifications are accepted:
- UK/Ireland CCT/CCST
- American Board Certification (only approved boards by American Board of Medical specialties accepted)
- Canadian Fellowship (RCPSC) with 3 years post board experience.
- Fachartz (German Board)
- 3 years post qualifying experience at a full consultant level
- GMC Specialist Registration (No Malpractice issues).
