Role: Cloud Automation Engineer


Location: Abu Dhabi


Role Purpose:


The Cloud Automation Engineer will be responsible for the planning, development, and management of the cloud infrastructure, encompassing both private and public cloud environments. This role demands extensive technical expertise, a strong background in cloud infrastructure management, and a proven ability to lead and inspire a high-performing team. The goal is to ensure the cloud infrastructure's reliability, scalability, and security to support the organization's growth and operational needs


Key Accountabilities of the role:         


Strategic Planning and Leadership:


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud Operations practice that aligns with the organization's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Mentor a team of cloud engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to ensure cloud initiatives support business objectives and drive innovation.

Cloud Infrastructure Management:


  • Design, implementation, and maintenance of robust private and public cloud infrastructure solutions based on VMware, MS Azure, Oracle OCI and Container Platforms, etc.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all cloud infrastructure components.
  • Implement best practices for cloud architecture, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
  • Optimize cloud resources for cost efficiency and performance.
  • Handle cloud operations ensuring performance, security, and resiliency for the platform.

Operational Excellence:


  • Implement and maintain advanced cloud monitoring, management, and automation tools to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive cloud policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Ensure timely resolution of cloud-related issues and minimize impact on business operations.

Security and Compliance:


  • implement security and configuration compliance controls for managed cloud systems.
  • Ensure compliance with cloud security standards and best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and monitoring.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:


  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in cloud infrastructure management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cloud infrastructure efficiency, effectiveness, and agility.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the cloud team, encouraging the exploration and adoption of new technologies and approaches.

Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge, Technical Competencies Required for this role:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Strong expertise in both private and public cloud infrastructure (e.g., VMware, Azure, OCI).
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale cloud infrastructure projects and migrations.
  • In-depth knowledge of server operating systems, storage, virtualization, and database technologies.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. 
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus.
