Job Overview
The Capillary Operator is a skilled field specialist responsible for operating equipment and executing technical tasks related to capillary operations. Working under the supervision of the Capillary Supervisor, the role involves conveyance of capillary and coiled tubing equipment while mentoring Assistant Operators. The operator should be capable of executing capillary jobs independently once the supervisor has approved the plan.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect spooling unit, level wind mechanism, hydraulic system, brakes, and tension control.
  • Carry out mobilization and demobilization tasks including loading, offloading, and equipment positioning.
  • Understand work string limitations and convey it in and out of the well independently without kinking or bird-caging.
  • Monitor the work string continuously for visual defects and abnormal tension readings or parameters.
  • Complete job tickets, pressure test records, and logbooks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Assist in asset and inventory counts.
  • Create and enforce Permit to Work (PTW).
Skills
  • Proficient in operating spooling units, injector heads, and pressure control equipment (PCE).
  • Knowledge of high-pressure testing procedures for PCE.
  • Well control awareness and wellhead pressure management.
  • Ability to read and interpret job programs, well schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Preventive maintenance of hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic field equipment.
  • Accurate technical record-keeping and field data documentation.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in capillary or coiled tubing operations (slickline experience is an advantage).
  • IWCF or IADC WIPC Level 2 certification preferred; candidates actively working toward certification are acceptable.
  • Physically fit and able to work up to 12-hour shifts.
  • Clear written and verbal English.
