Job Summary:


The Technician is responsible for carrying out inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards and workshop procedures. The Technician ensures that vehicles are serviced efficiently, safely, and to the satisfaction of customers.


AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES:


Vehicle Diagnosis and Repair


• Perform routine servicing, mechanical repairs, and diagnostics on various vehicle systems (engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, etc.).


• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and carry out necessary repairs.


Maintenance Tasks


• Conduct scheduled maintenance checks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations.


• Inspect vehicle systems and components to ensure reliability and performance.


Work Order Execution


• Review job cards and follow service instructions provided by the service advisor or workshop supervisor.


• Complete assigned tasks within time and quality guidelines.


Tool and Equipment Handling


• Use hand tools, power tools, lifts, and diagnostic machines safely and correctly.


• Maintain tools and ensure they are clean and functional.


Safety and Compliance


• Adhere to workshop safety standards and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).


• Ensure work practices comply with manufacturer and local regulations.


Record Keeping and Documentation


• Record parts used, work performed, and time spent on job cards or digital systems.


• Report additional faults or recommended services to supervisors.


Team Collaboration


• Work closely with other technicians, service advisors, and parts personnel.


• Attend technical training and stay updated on vehicle technologies.


Customer Satisfaction


• Ensure high-quality work is delivered to prevent repeat repairs and enhance customer trust.


• Occasionally assist in explaining repairs or maintenance done, if required.



To be a successful Auto Technician, you should demonstrate strong technical knowledge, diagnostic accuracy, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.


Mandatory & Preferred Requirements


  • 4–6 years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician


  • Dealership experience preferred


  • Manufacturer training or certification is an advantage


  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems


  • Skilled in using diagnostic tools, lifts, and workshop equipment


  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair procedures


  • Familiarity with service software and job card documentation


  • Valid driving license (as applicable)
