As an Assistant Director at Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), you will be responsible for conceptualizing and shaping the overall creative direction of our productions, ensuring the vision aligns with our objectives and audience preferences. You will lead the production team—including directors, producers, and technical staff—providing guidance, direction, and oversight throughout the production process. You will collaborate closely with other key stakeholders, such as producers and executives, to ensure alignment with strategic goals, budgetary constraints, and scheduling requirements. Ultimately, you are responsible for maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of production, from pre-production planning to post-production editing, ensuring that the final product meets industry standards and reflects the DMI brand identity.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide creative leadership and vision for productions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and audience preferences.  
  • Oversee all aspects of production, including casting, script development, set design, and filming schedules, to ensure the successful execution of the director's vision.  
  • Lead and manage a team of directors, producers, and technical staff, providing guidance, support, and feedback throughout the production process.  
  • Develop and manage production budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial constraints.  
  • Collaborate with producers, writers, editors, and other key stakeholders to develop and refine creative concepts, scripts, and storylines.  
  • Review and provide input on scripts, ensuring consistency, clarity, and adherence to organizational standards and guidelines.  
  • Direct actors and crew members during rehearsals and filming, providing guidance on performance, blocking, and camera angles to achieve desired results.  
  • Possess a strong understanding of the technical aspects of media production, including camera operation, lighting, sound, and post-production processes.  
  • Ensure that the final product meets quality standards and reflects the brand identity, overseeing editing, sound mixing, and other post-production activities.  
  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes, identifying opportunities for innovation, growth, and audience engagement.

Qualifications Required


Work Experience & Skills:


  • 0–4 years of previous experience working in production, with a proven track record of successful projects and leadership roles.  
  • Demonstrated experience as a director or assistant director on productions, showcasing proficiency in directing talent, blocking scenes, and coordinating production logistics.  
  • Experience providing creative leadership and vision for productions, including developing concepts, shaping storylines, and guiding artistic decisions.  
  • Strong creative vision and storytelling skills, with the ability to conceptualize and execute compelling content that engages and entertains audiences.  
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate production teams, delegate tasks effectively, and manage resources efficiently.  
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas, provide direction to cast and crew, and collaborate with internal and external partners.  
  • Understanding of budgeting principles and financial management practices to effectively manage production budgets and resources.  
  • Deep knowledge of the media and entertainment industry, including current trends, audience preferences, and industry standards, to stay competitive and innovative in content creation.  

Academic Qualifications & Certifications:


  • Must Have: Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field to provide comprehensive knowledge of production principles, storytelling techniques, and industry standards.  
  • Good to Have: Master's degree in Media Studies or Media Production to offer advanced education in production theory, research methods, and creative leadership.  
  • Good to Have: Certification programs specifically for directors, covering topics such as directing techniques, production management, and creative leadership.  
  • Good to Have: Completion of leadership and management training programs, workshops, or seminars to enhance skills in team leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and strategic planning.
