We are looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer – Electrical – 400 kV substation for one of our clients with the following details:


Start date: ASAP


Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE


Work status: Single status


Qualification and Experience required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Initial to intermediate experience (typically 2–5 years) in site supervision, construction, or engineering support roles within EPC or infrastructure projects.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical construction activities (HV/MV/LV, protection & control, or similar).
  • Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE) is an advantage.
  • Good skills in reporting, communication, and teamwork.
  • Willingness to work on site in a construction environment.

Activities:


  • The Assistant Resident Electrical Engineer (ARE ELEC) supports the Resident Electrical Engineer in the on-site supervision and technical oversight of electrical works performed by the EPC Contractor.
  • Based on site, the ARE ELEC assists in monitoring construction progress, quality, safety, and compliance of electrical works with project specifications, applicable international standards, and local regulations. The position contributes to the effective execution of the project through inspections, documentation, reporting, and coordination activities under the guidance of the Resident Electrical Engineer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities


Site Supervision and Technical Support


  • Assist the Resident Electrical Engineer in supervising electrical construction activities carried out by the EPC Contractor.
  • Support inspections of electrical works including equipment installation, cabling, earthing and grounding systems, protection and control systems.
  • Verify that works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, specifications, and agreed construction procedures.

Quality Monitoring


  • Support the monitoring of electrical quality assurance and quality control activities on site.
  • Assist in identifying non-conformities and deviations and support the follow-up of corrective actions under the supervision of the Resident Electrical Engineer.
  • Participate in the review of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and inspection records related to electrical works.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)


  • Assist in monitoring HSE compliance related to electrical activities on site.
  • Support site safety observations, toolbox talks, and reporting of unsafe conditions or near-miss events related to electrical works.
  • Promote safe working practices and compliance with site safety rules.

Testing and Commissioning Support


  • Assist in witnessing testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities performed by the EPC Contractor.
  • Support verification that tests results and records are properly documented and meet project requirements.

Interfaces and Coordination


  • Support coordination between the EPC Contractor, the Resident Engineer, and the Consultant’s project team on electrical matters.
  • Assist in attending site technical and coordination meetings, taking notes and following up on assigned electrical action items.

Material Inspection and Documentation


  • Support material inspections on site when required, including checking delivery condition, quantities, and conformity with approved documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing basic shipping and material documentation (BOM, certificates, drawings) under supervision.

Reporting and Records


  • Assist in maintaining site records related to electrical works, including inspection reports, daily site records, NCR logs, punch lists, and progress tracking.
  • Contribute to the preparation of daily and weekly site reports by providing accurate site observations and data.

Working Conditions


  • Full-time, site-based position.
  • Occasional travel to other project-related locations may be required.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends during critical construction or commissioning phases.
  • Mandatory compliance with all site access, safety, and security requirements.
