Job description

We are looking for an Automation Service Engineer to join our Service team in Turkey. In this role, you will be responsible for executing automation-related service activities on customer sites, supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrades, and ensuring high performance and customer satisfaction across installed equipment and systems.
This position involves close collaboration with service engineers and technicians, frequent travel, and direct interaction with customers in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities / Tasks


  • Execute automation service works on customer sites across Turkey
  • Perform changes and modifications to existing software on new and pre-existing equipment
  • Carry out service activities with a focus on Automation, with limited Mechanical and Electrical support tasks as required
  • Lead and support commissioning activities and troubleshooting, both on-site and remotely
  • Install rebuilding and upgrade kits according to defined procedures and safely reinstate equipment into production
  • Work in coordination with service engineers and technicians to ensure timely execution and compliance with GEA quality and safety standards
  • Attend equipment and process trainings in line with company regulations to continuously improve technical skills
  • Inspect operational, mechanical, electrical, process, and quality aspects of systems and document executed work according to company guidelines
  • Identify opportunities and actively promote upgrades of existing machines and plants to customers, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance guarantees

Your Profile / Qualifications


Education & Background


  • Technical degree or certification in Automation Engineering or a related field (Mechatronics, Electrical or Electronic Engineering), or equivalent experience

Professional Experience


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation service, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in food, dairy, chemical, environmental, or pharmaceutical industries is preferred

Automation & Electrical Competencies


  • Strong experience with PLC programming (Siemens), HMI/OP panels, and automation fault finding
  • Solid knowledge of electrical panels, MCCs, process instrumentation, and electrical installations
  • Experience with industrial networks and I/O systems (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, Profibus)
  • Hands-on experience with Danfoss, Schneider, or ABB VFDs

Technical Documentation & Process Knowledge


  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and process descriptions
  • Process knowledge of separation technology (decanters and separators) is a strong advantage

Languages & Tools


  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Good command of spoken and written English
