Job description
Diamond Foundry Inc. is solving the thermal limitation at the foundation of today's most exciting tech industries -- AI & cloud compute, electric-car power electronics, and 5G/6G wireless. We have managed to produce the world's first single-crystal diamond wafers and are now on a mission to put a diamond behind every chip. We are the rare unicorn that has grown fast and profitably. We received $515m in funding and are executing a multi-$B expansion plan for one of the greenest forms of tech manufacturing: converting greenhouse gas into diamond wafers using zero-emission energy.
Diamond Foundry is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer specialized in real-time digital control to lead the architecture and development of embedded firmware for high-performance power electronic systems supporting data center, energy conversion, and automotive applications.
This is a highly hands-on technical role focused on real-time control systems, high-frequency power converters, and advanced embedded programming across microcontroller and DSP platforms, ensuring performance, safety, and reliability in demanding industrial environments.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement real-time digital control firmware for automotive and industrial AC-DC, DC-DC, and inverter systems, including high-speed interrupt-driven control loops and DSP optimization.
- Develop and tune advanced control algorithms (PID, state-space, digital compensators, observers) for high-bandwidth power converters with deterministic timing and loop stability.
- Lead embedded development across multiple microcontroller and DSP platforms, interfacing with ADCs, PWMs, sensors, and gate drivers in high-voltage systems.
- Drive hardware bring-up, system debugging, validation, and performance optimization using professional tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers), including automated testing and calibration frameworks.
- Develop GUI-based engineering tools (Python or Visual C++), simulation workflows (MATLAB/Simulink), and maintain firmware architecture standards aligned with automotive safety processes (e.g., ISO 26262). Disciplined revision control and documentation a must.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience developing real-time embedded firmware in C/C++ for power electronics or high-performance control systems. Automotive development process and safety standards knowledge a plus.
- Proven experience implementing digital control algorithms for high-frequency switching power converters (AC-DC, DC-DC, inverters), with a strong foundation in control theory and DSP.
- Expert proficiency in C\C++ and advanced microcontroller programming techniques in real-time, interrupt-driven environments, including RTOS concepts and low-latency architectures. Strong experience with Git and collaborative development workflows a must.
- Experience with embedded system validation and modeling tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, MATLAB/Simulink), and familiarity with automotive development processes such as ISO 26262.
