Summary – basic function of the role

We are looking for a CAD Designer to join our growing engineering team based in Alcobendas, Madrid.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their career who is looking to develop their technical design capabilities within a global engineering environment. Working closely with experienced engineers and manufacturing teams, you will support new product development projects through CAD modelling, BOM preparation, technical drawings, and product design support.

The role offers a strong development pathway, with hands-on training and exposure to international engineering teams across the business. Initially, the focus will be on supporting local projects and learning Enerpac products and processes, before gradually expanding into more global collaboration with engineering teams and manufacturing partners worldwide.

This is a hybrid role based at our Alcobendas office, with onsite collaboration Monday to Thursday and the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create 3D CAD models, technical drawings, assemblies, and BOM structures by partnering with engineers from concept through production.

  • Support new product development projects involving hydraulic cylinders, pressure pumps, tooling, and related mechanical equipment.

  • Assist with product design updates, engineering changes, and documentation releases for both new and existing products.

  • Support hands-on product assembly, testing, and prototype activities to build practical understanding of product functionality and manufacturing processes.

  • Work with engineers to integrate components and assemblies into new product designs.

  • Support the design and adaptation of products, fixtures, and tooling for manufacturing processes including machining, welded assemblies, castings, molded components, and additive manufacturing.

  • Maintain and manage BOMs, assemblies, and engineering documentation within Product Data Management systems.

  • Implement design improvements driven by customer feedback, product performance, warranty reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure drawings, models, and engineering documentation are accurate, organised, and maintained to company drafting and engineering standards.

  • Collaborate with global engineering teams and internal stakeholders in English as part of ongoing project work and future development opportunities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment with a proactive and positive mindset.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical, manufacturing, and hands-on engineering knowledge.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and machining processes, including machined components, sheet metal, welded assemblies, castings, or molded parts.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Knowledge of CAD modelling and technical drawing creation using AutoCAD, Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to organise and maintain accurate engineering documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Open-minded, approachable, and professional communication style with the confidence to work across international teams.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drafting standards would be beneficial.
  • Language: Professional Spanish and English communication skills (written and verbal) are required.

Education and Experience

  • Technician in Mechanical Design (Vocational Training Level 2) or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and 3D CAD software such as Creo Parametric or SolidWorks.
  • Previous exposure to manufacturing, machining, mechanical assembly, or engineering environments would be beneficial.
  • Internship, placement year, vocational training, or early-career engineering experience is welcomed.
