Copper Quail Global is recruiting for an experienced Construction Manager to join a large-scale mining project in West Africa on an expatriate rotation basis.

This role forms part of the senior site leadership team and will take full responsibility for the safe, on-programme, and on-budget delivery of all construction activities across multiple disciplines including civil, earthworks, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical scopes.

The successful candidate will provide leadership across all construction fronts while managing contractors, programme delivery, cost performance, HSE compliance, and stakeholder engagement within a remote mining environment.

Position Details

Position: Construction Manager

Reporting To: Project Manager

Location: West Africa

Rotation: 6/2 or 9/3 Rotation

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all site construction activities across civil, SMPP, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical disciplines

Drive construction delivery safely, on schedule, and within budget parameters

Manage Superintendent-level direct reports and ensure alignment across all construction work fronts

Own and manage the integrated construction programme and look-ahead planning schedules

Lead contractor and subcontractor management including scope execution, performance tracking, variations, and claims management

Chair construction meetings, progress reviews, and reporting sessions with senior stakeholders

Manage project cost control, forecasting, earned value tracking, and construction productivity reporting

Ensure compliance with all HSE standards, site procedures, and environmental obligations

Coordinate closely with Engineering, Survey, Procurement, and Project Controls teams

Oversee construction quality systems including ITPs, NCR management, and final handover documentation

Proactively identify construction risks and implement mitigation strategies

Mentor and develop site leadership teams while driving a high-performance culture

Requirements

Minimum 15 years’ construction experience within mining, heavy industrial, or large resources projects

Minimum 8 years in senior construction leadership roles

Proven experience managing multi-discipline construction programmes exceeding USD 30M

Strong exposure to earthworks, TSF construction, structural concrete, SMPP, and mining infrastructure projects

Previous African mining project experience highly advantageous

Strong contractor management and construction contract administration experience

Experience working within remote expatriate mining environments

Strong leadership capability managing multicultural workforces and multiple site teams simultaneously

Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred
