JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE: The primary purpose of the Ship Operation Vice President, Workshop Production role, specializing in Steel Cutting & Sub-Assembly, Flat Block, Curved Block, Pre-Outfitting, Pipe Production, Unit Production, and Scaffolding departments, is to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of these critical areas within the shipyard. The objective is to lead and manage the production processes, resources, and teams involved in these departments, ultimately delivering high-quality ship components within set timelines and budgetary constraints. By overseeing these workshop production departments, the Vice President will contribute to the overall success of ship construction projects, meeting customer requirements, and maintaining the shipyard's reputation for excellence in shipbuilding.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 


1. Departmental Performance: Accountable for the overall performance of the Steel Cutting & Sub-Assembly, Flat Block, Curved Block, Pre-Outfitting, Pipe Production, Unit Production, and Scaffolding departments, ensuring they meet or exceed production targets, quality standards, and project schedules.


2. Resource Allocation: Responsible for effective resource allocation within each department, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to optimize productivity and meet project requirements.


3. Process Improvement: Accountable for identifying opportunities to improve production processes, implementing changes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity while maintaining quality standards.


4. Budget Management: Responsible for managing departmental budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring cost control measures are in place, aligning with overall project and organizational financial goals.


5. Stakeholder Collaboration: Accountable for fostering effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, project management, and procurement, to ensure seamless coordination and timely delivery of ship construction projects.


6. Safety and Compliance: Responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and legal requirements within each department, implementing appropriate measures to mitigate risks and promote a safe working environment.


7. Talent Development: Accountable for the development and management of departmental staff, including supervisors, technicians, and support staff, by providing guidance, training, and mentorship to foster a skilled and motivated workforce.


8. Vendor Relationships: Responsible for managing relationships with external vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and addressing any issues to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.


9. Continuous Improvement: Accountable for driving a culture of continuous improvement within each department, encouraging innovation, implementing best practices, and leveraging emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.


10. Stakeholder Satisfaction: Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality ship components on time, addressing any concerns promptly, and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience in Shipbuilding Construction, with a focus on ship operations and project management.
