Job Description

The Tour Guide Trainer is responsible for training, developing, evaluating, and continuously improving tour guides’ performance. This role ensures all guides meet the organization’s quality, content, safety, and service standards while delivering exceptional visitor experiences.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Design and deliver training programs for new and existing tour guides.
  • Develop training materials including scripts, manuals, presentations, and assessments.
  • Train guides on storytelling techniques, visitor engagement, and communication skills.
  • Ensure guides have accurate and up-to-date knowledge of the site, history, and narratives.
  • Conduct practical field training, shadowing, and live tour evaluations.
  • Assess guide performance and provide structured feedback and coaching.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement improvement plans.
  • Standardize tour delivery while allowing room for personality and engagement.
  • Train guides on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and visitor management.
  • Support onboarding and certification of new tour guides.
  • Collaborate with operations and management to align training with operational needs.
  • Update training content based on feedback, changes, or new experiences introduced.
     

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in tourism, education, history, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a tour guide or in visitor experience roles.
  • Prior experience in training, coaching, or teaching (strongly preferred).
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Fluency in required language(s); additional languages are an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to evaluate performance objectively and constructively.
