Job description

Sustaining Engineerensures the correctness of Product Files, Manufacturing and Quality reliability, and longevity of existing products after their initial release, often working with mature products during Development and Production lifecycle.


He disposes of quality non-conformances, perform root-cause analysis on defects, update documentation (BOMs, drawings), mitigate component obsolescence, reduce manufacturing costs through Value Engineering, and provide technical support to the Manufacturing Plant to sustain product quality and within product delivery objectives.


Key Responsibilities and Duties


  • Non-conformance Evaluation and Root Cause Analysis:Diagnose and resolve manufacturing and customer-reported issues, performing investigations into component failures or product performance problems.
  • Engineering Change Management:Process engineering change orders (ECOs) and modify designs, CAD models, and assembly procedures for improvements or fixes.
  • Component Obsolescence & Supply Chain Support:Identify and qualify replacements for parts that are no longer available to ensure production continuity.
  • Process Improvement & Cost Reduction:Actively identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce product costs through design optimization.
  • Technical Documentation:Maintain and update product documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOMs) and technical specifications.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Serve as a technical liaison between engineering, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications


  • Education:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Experience:2-5+ years of hands-on experience in product design, sustaining, or similar roles.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision Making Skills:Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform root-cause investigation.
  • Technical Knowledge:Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., CreoSE), PLM systems, and Engineering Calculations
  • Communication:Effective communication skills for interacting with suppliers, and internal teams.
