Job Summary

The Sr. Operations Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of mechanical systems and equipment across plant operations. The role involves supervising maintenance activities, optimizing performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with operational standards and safety regulations.


Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
  • Oversee day-to-day mechanical operations of plant equipment and systems
  • Ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency of mechanical assets
  • Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities
Technical & Engineering Support
  • Analyze mechanical failures and perform root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance and operations teams
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures
  • Support commissioning, shutdown, and turnaround activities
Process Optimization
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance and reduce downtime
  • Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies
  • Optimize energy consumption and operational costs
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies and international standards
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
  • Enforce permit-to-work (PTW) systems and safety procedures
Team Coordination
  • Supervise and guide technicians, supervisors, and junior engineers
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Electrical, Instrumentation, Process)
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and external stakeholders
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare operational reports, maintenance logs, and technical documentation
  • Maintain records of equipment performance and maintenance schedules
  • Provide regular updates to management on KPIs and system status

RequirementsStrong knowledge of rotating and static equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, heat exchangers)
Expertise in maintenance strategies (Preventive, Predictive, Condition Monitoring)
Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems
Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP/Maximo)
Knowledge of international standards (API, ASME, ISO)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good leadership and team management abilities
Excellent communication and reporting skills
