Perform structural marking activities by interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate marking methods, and collaborating with the chargehand and supervisor, to ensure safe, accurate, and timely execution of tasks in compliance with project requirements and the International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS).
1. Perform the safe and timely execution of all assigned structural marking tasks.
2. Interpret and apply technical drawings and documentation, including assembly, production, and marking plans.
3. Evaluate job requirements to determine the most appropriate manual marking method.
4. Secure valid work permits (Hot/Cold/Isolation, etc.) prior to initiating any activity.
5. Participate in safety and daily toolbox meetings, demonstrating a clear understanding of job-related risks.
6. Execute marking operations accurately in accordance with technical drawings.
7. Monitor material usage to identify and resolve potential shortages proactively.
8. Apply precise marking preparations, inspect completed markings, and verify compliance with quality standards.
9. Inspect and maintain marking tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
10. Demonstrate full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) responsibilities
Education: Highschool or Technical Diploma or equivalent qualification
Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Ability to read and understand measurements, assembly lists, and basic drawings
• Skilled in using hand and portable marking tools.
• Knowledge of different types of steel (plates, rods, sections)
• Basic knowledge of tolerances.
• Awareness of workplace hazards (fire, sparks, falling materials).
• Attention to detail (to avoid mistakes and wastage).
• Teamwork – working with chargehands and crane operators.
• Time management – completing assigned cuts within shift targets.
• Communication – reporting problems or unsafe conditions quickly.
• Willingness to learn – improving cutting techniques or adapting to new tools.
