Purpose


As an SME, you will provide Waste treatment and Management expertise to the process engineering team and downstream disciplines (Environmental, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Safety & Risk etc.) in designing, optimizing waste treatment technologies for waste disposal, treatment, and recycling. You will work closely with local environmental regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, minimizing environmental impact, and improving waste treatment and handling efficiencies across the waste treatment facility.


Responsibilities:


·Provide guidance and direction to engineering teams to design, develop and implement waste treatment solutions customized to client’s requirements, including waste treatment, recycling, and disposal processes for hazardous and non-hazardous wastes (Municipal and Industrial waste).


·Collaborate and provide waste treatment expertise to process engineering team in developing Basis of Design, Heat & Mass balance, PFDs, P&IDs, specifications, operations and control philosophies for waste treatment units.


·Participate in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL) and design reviews and support close-out of recommendations which arise from these reviews.


·Review technical proposals from vendors and provide technical bid clarifications.


·Ensure that waste management solutions comply with environmental regulations, industry standards (USEPA, ISO etc.), and local jurisdictions, ensuring minimal risk to the environment and human health.


·Work with Process engineering Lead in managing waste treatment projects from concept to detailed engineering including budgeting, scheduling, resource management, and stakeholder coordination.


·Validate waste characterisation (Municipal and Industrial) data from client and submit report for client approval.


·Develop waste treatment technology selection reports for client approval.


·Analyse existing waste treatment process and make recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce operating cost, and minimize environmental impact.


·Collaborate with environmental engineering in conducting environmental impact assessment for waste management process and providing actionable recommendations for sustainability improvements and waste minimizations.


·Provide assistance to process engineering in integrating overall multi-unit waste treatment facility.


·Provide mentorship to young engineers and engineering teams on waste treatment and management processes.


Qualifications:


Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.


  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field from a recognized and an accredited institution. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.


  • Relevant experience in waste treatment, environmental engineering, or a related field, particularly within industrial or engineering sectors.


  • Knowledge of waste treatment processes (e.g., chemical treatment, biological treatment, waste-to-energy, recycling).


  • Understanding of environmental laws, including hazardous waste management regulations, disposal standards, and ISO certifications.


  • Experience with environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and life-cycle analysis (LCA) related to waste management systems.


  • Strong project management abilities, including scheduling, cost estimation, and resource allocation.


  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage client relationships effectively.


  • Competent in use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and engineering specific software including macro-based excel sheets to develop Heat & Mass balance of a waste treatment facility.
