Mechanical Technician

The Mechanical Technician performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks pertaining to the installation, maintenance, repair and service of the electrical and mechanical equipment, instruments and provide technical staff support to operations

Job Responsibility:

1. Ensures equipment, materials and tools are on-hand for work execution. Reports resources and time utilized, job scope expansion, rework or deferred maintenance as required; also keeping all tasks & activities logged and up-dated.
2. Assists in preparing maintenance activities for execution, ensuring permits, tools, materials and equipment in place in accordance with maintenance schedules.
3. Ensures maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with client and industry standard policies and procedure.
4. Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and service facilities, machinery and equipment.
5. Upholds with organization Safety and QA/QC procedures and strictly enforces them amongst the workforce.
6. Performs corrective mechanical maintenance by troubleshooting the cause of malfunctions using visual inspection and precision measuring and testing instruments and replacing or repairing broken parts
7. Maintains effective Health and Safety systems, including completion of risk assessments and method statements and tool box talks where appropriate.
8. Adheres to safety orders and comply with OSHA regulations in all aspects of work.
9. Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools used in the performance of assigned duties
10. Lead man in the inspection, checking, preparation and implementation of the mechanical work.
11. Monitors mill operation and other related mechanical activities to troubleshoot problems to minimize downtime.
12. Implement lubrication and other preventive maintenance work.
13. Supervises work of mechanics and skilled workers.
14. Supervises shop work.
15. Coordinate with other department in the implementation of maintenance work

Education

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or any Related Technical Certif
