JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE Summary of the main purpose of the job as the basic function and scope of the job in terms of organization, geographic areas supported, financial or other volume/size metrics, strategic impact and nature of supervision received, or exercise related to the job in a descriptive manner The Fitter (Aux.& Deck Equip., P/Ps, V/Ss & OWS) is responsible for performing activities related to the Mechanical workshop jobs for ships/rigs or other related mechanical activities. Perform all related activities in workshop, and other areas where related work is ongoing and ensure that work is carried out safely and on time, according to project contractual obligations. The Fitter (Aux.& Deck Equip., P/Ps, V/Ss & OWS) is responsible for following the Mechanical Supervisor & Foreman for delivering the work safely, on time, to the client’s satisfaction and in accordance with the project contractual obligations and International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS). This role involves working closely with Mechanical Foreman. Ensure efficiency, productivity and proper housekeeping in workshops. 3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Areas of Accountabilities (list up to 10 prime activities) (Describe concisely each principal work activity listed in logical order normally the list with include the most important duty first indicating important decision and recommendations made if applicable; start sentences with action verbs first) • Adhere to reinforce, and promote IMI Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Policies. • Ensure that all mechanical activities onboard are meticulously followed and executed. • Receive and follow the instructions from the Mechanical foreman or Supervisor regarding priority of the works. • Ensure all repairs and maintenance work meets required quality standards and regulatory requirements. • Ensure effective and consistent interaction with Mechanical foreman or Supervisor as required. • Perform other relevant tasks as requested by the Mechanical Foreman or Supervisor.
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations) • Mechanical/Marine related qualifications or relevant time served. • Proven experience of working in a heavy machinery/mechanical workshop & onboard in a reputed major shipyard at equivalent level. Competency (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) • In- depth understanding of mechanical jobs and best practices related to ships & rigs. • Familiarity with different winches deck machinery, cranes, hydraulic jobs, pumps, valves, heat exchangers and other mechanical & rotating components. • Overhauling working methods and processes • Dealing with a multi-cultural environment • Sound knowledge on tools/equipment’s and consumables and spares. • Physically fit and able to work in extreme climatic conditions Experience • At least 2 years’ experience in reputable large shipyards, with proven, hands on and in-depth knowledge in Deck machineries, heat exchanger, cranes, basic hydraulic jobs & general mechanical jobs. Languages • Basic communication skills (oral) in the English Language. 5.
