The Technician, Lab is responsible for performing daily calibration activities at Lab related to instrumentation/automation. This role ensures that all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and the International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS). The Lab Technician works closely with Instrumentation Superintendent, E&I Workshop Senior Superintendent and address site issues, ensuring timely and successful completion of assigned scopes.
Ensure all work activities are carried out in strict compliance with IMI Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and the International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS).
Receive job scope, priorities, and work instructions from the Instrumentation Superintendent.
Perform all aspects of calibration, testing, certification activities related to instrumentation/automation such as electrical meters, transmitters, pressure gauges, flowmeters, temperature gauges, control valves, and other gauges ensuring tasks are executed to the specified technical and safety standards.
Demonstrate understanding of electrical schematics, P&ID and block diagrams, materials, basic tools, multimeters/calibration instruments.
Attend daily toolbox talks, work only when PTWs are in place, always use proper PPE and safety practices.
Ensure proper workshop housekeeping, including waste removal, scrap management, and restoring work areas to clean conditions at shift end.
Perform other related duties as per line manager direction.
Diploma in electronics or equivalent.
Minimum 3-6 years of experience in shipyard/ship repair/Offshore.
Instrumentation/automation related professional qualifications or relevant.
Sound knowledge of instrumentation/automation systems isolation control system, transmitters, gauges calibration in a shipyard environment.
Experienced in working in MRO and similar offshore related projects
Troubleshooting / rectification of faults during overhauling and calibration techniques, testing.
Good knowledge on tools/multimeters/calibrators, consumables, cable types.
Comply with PPE, substances, and safety devices correctly, great hands-on experience and hardworking.
Document control, soft skills, certificates issuance.
Good understanding of instruments and control schematics.
Stress and Time management.
Familiar with Solas, IECEX standards, Quality control, assurance.
Physically fit and able to work in extreme climatic conditions.
Proper communication skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
