AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced HSEW Director to lead and oversee Health, Safety, Environment, and Wellbeing (HSEW) functions for remote projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This role requires strong leadership in managing HSEW strategies for high-end luxury hospitality and residential developments, ensuring compliance, safety excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement across all project phases.


Your role
  • Lead and manage the overall HSEW strategy and execution across remote project sites in KSA.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor project-specific HSEW plans, policies, and procedures aligned with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with KSA health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as international standards.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to HSEW teams, coordinators, and site safety personnel.
  • Oversee contractor and subcontractor HSEW performance, ensuring alignment with project safety requirements.
  • Establish and maintain robust safety reporting systems, including KPIs, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through training, awareness programs, and leadership engagement.
  • Collaborate with project leadership teams to integrate HSEW into project planning and execution strategies.
  • Manage site security requirements and oversee third-party security service providers.
  • Support the development of Project Execution Plans, including HSEW frameworks during engineering and mobilization phases.
  • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies on all HSEW-related matters.
About you
  • Minimum 15+ years of HSE experience, with at least 5+ years in a leadership/director role.
  • Mandatory experience in high-end luxury hospitality and residential projects in KSA.
  • Strong background in construction, infrastructure, or mega-project environments, preferably in remote locations.
  • In-depth knowledge of KSA HSE regulations, international standards (ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001), and best practices.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing corporate HSEW strategies and programs.
  • Expertise in managing contractor safety performance and stakeholder coordination.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to present and report to senior leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Safety Management Systems.
  • Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) preferred.
