Overview

The HS Construction-Operations Engineer will support the safe integration of construction activities within operational or safety-critical environments while ensuring compliance with HSE requirements and operational constraints.


Your role
  • Support implementation of programme HSE management systems and operational safety procedures.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with construction and operational safety requirements.
  • Coordinate safe systems of work, permit-to-work controls, and operational interface activities.
  • Participate in safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
  • Support operational readiness and safe transition activities during testing and commissioning.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory obligations.
  • Prepare safety performance reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in HSE and operational safety environments.
  • Experience on rail, transportation, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of operational railway safety practices preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and environmental management systems.
  • Strong communication and coordination capability.
  • Safety certification preferred (NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP, or equivalent).
  • Experience in live operational environments highly desirable.
