THE POSITION

The Head Therapist leads the therapy team and sets the benchmark for treatment quality, guest personalization, and service excellence across the Spa. This role is accountable for maintaining treatment standards, coaching and developing therapists, and ensuring flawless daily execution in line with the hotel’s luxury positioning, hygiene requirements, and wellness protocols. The Head Therapist is a hands-on leader, delivering treatments, elevating team performance, and safeguarding the guest journey from consultation to follow-up.

RESPONSABILITIES

Lead, coach, and motivate the therapy team to consistently deliver exceptional treatments, warm service, and refined professional conduct.

Act as the Spa’s treatment standards champion, ensuring all protocols, sequencing, pressure techniques, timing, and guest communication are executed consistently.

Deliver a wide range of professional Spa treatments to the highest standard, adapting responsibly to guest needs, preferences, contraindications, and cultural expectations.

Conduct daily/weekly treatment quality checks (room readiness, set-up, consultation quality, technique, retail recommendation, close-out), and document corrective actions.

Support the Assistant Spa Manager with therapist scheduling, duty rosters, workload distribution, break planning, and last-minute coverage to protect the guest experience.

Lead onboarding and training for new therapists, including brand standards, hygiene and sanitation, treatment protocols, guest handling, and upselling etiquette.

Maintain therapist skill matrices and training records; identify development needs and coordinate refreshers, cross-training, and performance improvement plans.

Review guest feedback, therapist comment cards, and service recovery logs; follow up on issues and proactively prevent recurrence.

Handle guest concerns with discretion and urgency; perform service recovery within guidelines and ensure swift resolution and satisfaction.

Monitor treatment product consumption, manage par levels with Spa Reception/Store, and support inventory control to minimize waste, shrinkage, and stockouts.

Ensure treatment rooms, equipment, and tools are immaculate, functional, and presented to luxury standards; report maintenance needs promptly and follow up until resolved.

Collaborate closely with Spa Reception and other departments (Housekeeping, Engineering, F&B, Front Office) to ensure a seamless guest journey and smooth operations.

Ensure full compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and infection control standards; enforce correct cleaning procedures, PPE usage, and incident reporting.

Support retail and revenue performance by coaching therapists on consultation flow, recommendation confidence, and ethical upselling without pressure or overpromising.

Always maintain professional confidentiality and strict adherence to guest privacy.

Embrace and practice the company’s legacy values and competencies in all, team, and stakeholder interactions, acting as a role model for the desired culture and behaviors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Recognized professional certification/diploma in massage therapy and/or beauty therapy from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a therapist; senior therapist, trainer, or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.

Luxury hotel or high-end Spa experience is a strong advantage.

First Aid/CPR certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain upon joining). Show Less
