Role Purpose:


The Process Design Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering high‑quality process engineering designs across concept, FEED, and detailed engineering stages. The role focuses on translating business and operational requirements into robust, safe, and efficient process solutions, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.


This position is ideal for engineers with a strong background in engineering consultancy or EPC environments and hands-on experience in process design and project execution.


Key Responsibilities


Process Engineering & Design Development


  • Develop process design deliverables including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and mass balance calculations, and process datasheets
  • Define process design bases, design criteria, and operating philosophies aligned with project requirements
  • Perform process simulations, equipment sizing, and line sizing using industry-standard tools
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, codes, and best practices

Project Support Across Design Phases


  • Support projects from concept selection and FEED through to detailed design and handover
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, and constructability workshops
  • Interface with project engineers, discipline leads, and external licensors or vendors
  • Provide technical input during procurement, bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews

Integration & Multidisciplinary Collaboration


  • Work closely with mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and civil teams to ensure integrated and constructible designs
  • Coordinate process requirements with layout, utilities, and offsites engineers
  • Support interface management between process design and downstream project functions

Design Assurance & Continuous Improvement


  • Ensure process designs meet safety, operability, energy efficiency, and sustainability objectives
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and design simplification
  • Capture and apply lessons learned from projects to improve future designs
  • Support the development and standardization of process engineering practices

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies


Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering


  • 5–12 years of experience in process design and engineering delivery roles


  • Proven experience delivering process design within EPC or engineering consulting firms


  • Hands-on experience with FEED and detailed engineering projects


  • Familiarity with process simulation tools and engineering design systems


  • Experience supporting industrial, energy, resources, or infrastructure projects


  • Exposure to brownfield projects and design modifications


  • Experience working on projects in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments
