We are looking for an Electrical Engineer – OHL & Substations for one of our clients with the following details:


Start date: ASAP


Duration: 1 month (Direct Hire)


Location: Kingdom Saudi Arabia


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5–10+ years of experience in:
  • High Voltage Substations (up to 380/400 kV)
  • Overhead Transmission Lines (OHL)
  • Experience in GCC region preferred

Technical Skills:


Strong knowledge of:


  • HV equipment (transformers, breakers, isolators)
  • Protection & control systems
  • OHL design principles

Proficiency in tools such as:


  • AutoCAD
  • ETAP / Power system analysis tools

Understanding of:


  • IEC / IEEE standards
  • Grid code compliance
  • This role is ideal for an Electrical Engineer with strong HV transmission & substation experience, looking to work on large-scale interconnection projects in the GCC region with a global leader

Activities:


  • The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for design review, installation, testing, and commissioning support of high-voltage transmission systems, including Overhead Lines (OHL) and substations up to 380/400 kV
  • The role involves coordination with EPC contractors, ensuring compliance with international standards, and supporting project delivery across all phases.

Key Responsibilities


OHL (Overhead Line) Engineering


  • Design review and supervision of HV OHL systems (132 kV – 400 kV)

Review of:


  • Tower spotting & profiles
  • Sag & tension calculations
  • Conductor and insulator selection
  • Ensure compliance with IEC standards and project specifications

Supervise construction activities including:


  • Tower erection
  • Stringing works
  • Earthing systems
  • Monitor contractor performance and quality

Substation Engineering (Up to 380/400 kV)


  • Review and supervise GIS/AIS substation works

Evaluate:


  • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
  • Protection & control schemes
  • Equipment layouts

Oversee installation of:


  • Transformers
  • Switchgear
  • Busbars & protection systems
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities

Project & Site Management


  • Coordinate with GCCIA stakeholders, consultants, and contractors
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and propose mitigation plans

Ensure adherence to:


  • Project schedule
  • Quality standards
  • HSE requirements
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation
  • Testing Commissioning

Witness and review:


  • FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests)
  • SAT (Site Acceptance Tests)
  • Support energization of transmission lines and substations
  • Troubleshoot system issues during commissioning
