Position: Sewage Engineer – STP Projects
Department: Projects / Engineering / Construction
Reports To: Project Manager / Engineering Manager


Role Summary


The Sewage Engineer is responsible for the engineering, execution, and coordination of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects. The role involves overseeing process and mechanical works, ensuring compliance with design and authority requirements, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and supporting commissioning and handover activities.


Key Responsibilities


  • Review approved drawings, specifications, and method statements for STP projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate construction, installation, and testing of sewage treatment systems.
  • Ensure implementation of process and mechanical systems in line with approved design and authority standards.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams for smooth project execution.
  • Monitor site activities related to STP units such as aeration tanks, clarifiers, pumping stations, sludge handling systems, and disinfection units.
  • Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents from contractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, QCS, and local authority requirements.
  • Support testing, commissioning, performance trials, and final handover of STP facilities.
  • Identify technical issues and propose corrective actions during execution.
  • Prepare progress reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.

Qualification & Experience (Selection Criteria)


Educational Qualification


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Environmental Engineering .
  • Specialized training in wastewater treatment is an advantage.

Experience


  • Minimum 5–10 years experience in STP / wastewater treatment projects.
  • Proven experience in:
    • Construction and execution of STP projects
    • Process units such as aeration, clarification, filtration, and disinfection
  • Experience in Qatar or GCC sewage treatment projects is preferred.

Technical Skills


  • Strong knowledge of sewage treatment processes and STP operations.
  • Familiar with mechanical and process equipment such as pumps, blowers, screens, diffusers, and sludge handling systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of QCS, authority standards, and international wastewater treatment guidelines.

Software & Tools


  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and commissioning documentation is an advantage.

Competencies


  • Strong coordination and site supervision skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple site activities simultaneously.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
