Key responsibilities: 


  • Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Assists the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
  • Contributes to the analytical insight of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
  • Uses local/global standards to facilitate technical excellence.
  • Assists checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
  • Technical supervision of project designated Electrical designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duty.
  • Knows the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.
  • Assists Lead Engineer in monitoring quality activities, drives and participates in squad checking, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.
  • Assist Project Team in project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules
  • Manage Electrical design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
  • Prepare and participate in weekly Electrical meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
  • Review and approve all related technical documents and coordinate with the Lead Engineer.
  • Review and advice on layouts, site preparation, etc., during technical evaluation stage of bidder’s proposals to assess technical capability and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Power System Analysis in ETAP for load flow, short circuit, motor starting, harmonics and Power factor correction
  • Preparation of Load List, Electrical system single line diagram, PMS architecture
  • Electrical equipment layout and cable way planning (ductbanks, trays in cable cellar/trenches)  in substations and electrical rooms in other buildings
  • Performing / checking equipment sizing calculations (transformers, DG, UPS-Battery),lighting calculations(DIALUX), Earthing calculations (ETAP), Lightning Protection calculations (IEC 62305)
  • Checking of lighting and small power layouts, earthing layouts, lightning protection layouts, DB schedule,
  • Effectively plan, helps a team of designers in getting various drawings and schedules prepared, checked
  • MV cable sizing based on IEC60287 using CYMECAP will be an added advantage
  • A thorough knowledge of the regulations, codes and standards and a good Knowledge of onshore & offshore engineering practices applicable to electrical design for oil and gas facilities.

  • Accountable for working within the provisions and guidelines of Quality Assurance systems.
  • Safety
  • Accountable for personal safety safe, safe working practices. Working knowledge and follow OH & S procedures promoting health, safety and environmental awareness.
  • HSE Capability:
    • Maintain HSE focus with the team to ensure OHSE requirements.
    • Demonstrate business practices commensurate with a culture of world’s best health, safety and environmental performance.
    • Demonstrate a visible and engaged reliability to:
    • personal well-being;
    • healthy and safe workplaces and activities; and
    • Continuously improve Worley health, safety and environmental performance.
    • Identify and report work hazards and incidents. 

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:        


  • Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage.

Industry Specific Experience:


  • Must have vast experience in Electrical design and engineering of oil & gas / large industrial projects in Onshore & Offshore projects.
  • Experience in brown fields & asset services type project / contracts.
  • Experience in MV cable sizing based on IEC60287 using CYMECAP will be an added advantage
  • Qatar project experience with knowledge of Kahramaa standards is preferred.
  • Good experience in the following areas.


Skills Required:


  • System Design up to 33kV
  • Single Line Diagram, Metering & Protection Diagram
  • Specification, Data Sheet, MR, TBE, Vendor Drawing/Document Review
  • Layouts
  • Sizing Calculation
  • List & Schedule (Cable Schedule, DB Schedule etc.)
  • Power System Studies
  • Sound technical report writing skills 
  • Willing to go to site for data collection activities
  • Working as lead electrical engineer in small size project
  • Experience in FS & CO, Pre-FEED, FEED, Detail Engineering Design
