The Instrument Engineer is responsible for executing and supervising instrument maintenance, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities within Oil & Gas facilities. The role ensures the reliability and performance of field instrumentation, process control systems, and associated equipment while maintaining compliance with company procedures and HSE standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of instrumentation systems.
- Execute instrument loop checking, loop testing, functional testing, and commissioning activities.
- Perform installation, inspection, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of field instruments.
- Carry out hook-up works for pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments.
- Calibrate and maintain transmitters, switches, gauges, analyzers, control valves, and valve positioners.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, and smart instrumentation systems.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, wiring diagrams, and datasheets.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction teams during shutdowns and project execution.
- Ensure all calibration activities comply with project specifications and quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate calibration records, maintenance reports, and technical documentation.
- Comply with PTW, LOTO, and HSE procedures at all times.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
RequirementsBachelor's Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
Hands-on experience in instrument loop testing, hook-up works, calibration of instruments, and control valves.
Strong knowledge of transmitters, switches, analyzers, control valves, field instruments, and process control systems.
Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation systems.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical drawings.
Familiarity with HART communicators and calibration equipment is preferred.
Knowledge of PTW, LOTO, and HSE requirements within Oil & Gas facilities.
Experience in shutdown and turnaround activities is an advantage.
