Job description

Job Summary

The Fund Manager – Equity Fund, have the primary responsibility of managing and optimizing the performance of the equity fund portfolio and making informed and tactical investment decisions in alignment with the fund's stated investment objectives, guidelines, and risk framework drawn by the Funds’ foundation documents, investment committee decisions, investment policy guidelines and CBAM’s senior management. This includes formulating investment strategies, conducting comprehensive fundamental and technical analysis, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining regular communication with stakeholders and investors. The Fund Manager will be looking after MENA equities (Mainly GCC & Qatar) and will be working with a team of experienced professionals and reporting to the senior management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee equity investment strategies to achieve the fund’s financial objectives based on analysis and assessment of risk and return potential.
  • Construct and actively manage diversified equity portfolios to achieve targeted returns, outperform benchmarks and adhere to established fund goals and risk parameters.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, re-calibrate portfolio as required, and provide detailed performance reports.
  • Monitor global, MENA, and local equity and financial markets closely to identify attractive investment opportunities and strategically manage asset allocations, and also stay updated on macroeconomic conditions, geopolitical developments, and regulatory changes.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of market dynamics, economic trends, and sector performance to support sound investment decisions.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of equities, including financial performance, valuation metrics, and industry trends.
  • Identify investment opportunities and conduct a detailed fundamental, qualitative and quantitative analysis, of the shortlisted companies through evaluating company performance, financial statements, industry conditions, competitive positioning, and future growth potential.
  • Develop and maintain quantitative financial models and risk management tools to forecast company earnings, cash flows, and valuation metrics and support decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of investment research tools, methodologies, and processes

Other Accountabilities

  • Work closely with the senior management to prepare and present detailed investment recommendations, supported by articulated investment rationale, to the fund’s governing committee.  
  • Regularly review the fund’s portfolio and propose investment strategies/changes based on changing market conditions and investment outlook.
  • Identify and assess investment risks, implement strategies to mitigate potential losses, monitor the fund’s risk exposure and manage portfolio risks within predefined limits.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and investment mandates.
  • Collaborate closely with risk management and compliance departments to maintain robust controls and reporting structures.
  • Maintain accurate and transparent records of transactions and portfolio changes.
  • Prepare timely and regular reports detailing portfolio performance, risk metrics, and market commentary to be communicated to investors, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Conduct investor meetings and presentations, build and maintain strong relationships with investors, and provide regular updates on fund performance, investment strategies, and market insights.
  • Liaise with the portfolio management system provider on implementation of a portfolio management and reporting system
