Primary Purpose of the Job

Function as the Civil/Structural Discipline Lead and Technical Authority for the Dukhan Power and Desalination Plant project, providing full technical leadership and ownership of the Contractor’s civil and structural design from commencement through completion. The role requires independent technical capability to manage, review, verify, and approve all civil and structural engineering deliverables associated with a power generation and desalination facility, including complex onshore and marine infrastructure.


The Lead shall be responsible for ensuring that civil and structural designs demonstrate proven capability in plant development, dynamic gas turbines, steam turbines, and generator foundations, very large prestressed potable water retaining structures, large‑scale drainage and earthworks, switching stations and electrical yards. The position requires strong technical assurance to maintain schedule and technical integrity on a large onshore development.



Required Experience and Skills
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in civil and structural design, including large projects and utility‑scale power generation facilities, with at least 5 years in a Lead role.
  • Demonstrable experience designing and leading civil and structural design for utility‑scale power plants, including heavy and dynamic gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator foundations.
  • Proven capability in plant site development, including roads, earthworks, and complex drainage systems associated with major industrial facilities, with clear evidence of hands on involvement in addressing associated technical, constructability, and interface challenges.
  • Demonstrable design experience in large prestressed potable water retaining structures, and large seawater tanks and settlement basins.
  • Demonstrable experience in nearshore and marine civil infrastructure, including seawater intake and brine discharge systems, nearshore civil works, and coastal protection infrastructure.
  • Experience providing technical support for construction of mega‑projects, including independent resolution of complex civil and structural engineering issues during execution.
  • Experience across Concept / Feasibility, FEED, and EPIC phases, with the capability to take full ownership of the Contractor’s design process through all stages.
  • Strong technical assurance capability, with the ability to independently resolve complex engineering issues without reliance on third‑party intervention.

Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Discipline Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status or a postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
