Security tools developer A day in Life


As a Security tools developer at Thermo Fisher, you will mainly develop security tools for hardening, configuring and patching of our diagnostic products. You could, for example:


  • Design, develop, and maintain security tools for hardening, configuring and patching critical platforms.
  • Programming, mainly in C# .NET and PowerShell scripts
  • Hardware firewall configuration and deployment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address system and network security requirements, implementing effective controls to safeguard data and systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of training materials and user instructions for personnel involved with the security and deployment of our laboratory products and systems.

Experience


  • Solid experience in application security for Windows platforms
  • Solid experience in Windows application development using C#, .NET and WPF
  • Experience with hardware firewall configuration, preferably Juniper and Fortinet
  • Experience in PowerShell and scripting languages, e.g. Python, Ruby, or Perl
  • Familiarity with system and network security tools and vulnerability scanners
  • Experience in VB.NET WinForms is desirable, but not required
  • Some experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines
