Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Role Overview

• These positions are strictly for AI/ML inference SDK development on embedded systems—not Applied AI, Data Science, or ML model training roles.

Job DescriptionTeam

Join the AI software team at Qualcomm focused on integrating cutting-edge GenAI models on Qualcomm chipsets. The team uses Qualcomm chipsets’ extensive heterogeneous computing capabilities to enable on-device inference of GenAI models without the need for cloud connectivity.

The inference engine is designed to help developers run neural network models trained in a variety of frameworks on Snapdragon platforms with high performance while consuming minimal power. The work directly impacts billions of devices worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and commercialization of the Qualcomm AI Runtime.
• Drive high-performance inference for large-scale models as an AI inferencing expert.
• Apply best practices to deploy large C/C++ software stacks.
• Stay current with GenAI advancements, including LLMs, Transformers, and edge-based GenAI deployment considerations.
• Demonstrate strong interest in the role of edge computing in the evolution of AI.
• Develop and commercialize ML solutions such as the Snapdragon Neural Processing Engine (SNPE) SDK on Qualcomm SoCs.
• Enable the AI/ML stack across platforms and optimize performance on multiple hardware accelerators (CPU, GPU, NPU).
• Apply expertise in deploying large C/C++ software dependency stacks using best practices.
• Keep up with rapid advancements in industry and academia to continuously enhance solutions from both software engineering and machine learning perspectives.

Requirements

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 15+ years of relevant work experience in software development
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming, design patterns, and OS concepts.
• Experience optimizing algorithms for AI hardware accelerators (CPU, GPU, NPU).
• Understanding of Generative AI models (LLMs, LVMs, LMMs) and building blocks such as self-attention, cross-attention, and KV caching.
• Knowledge of floating-point and fixed-point representations and quantization concepts.
• Excellent analytical and debugging skills.
• Strong communication skills (verbal, presentation, and written).
• Ability to collaborate across globally diverse teams and multiple stakeholders.
• Experience: in software development, with focused on LLM or Generative AI systems.
• Skills: Strong Python programming with hands-on C/C++, LLM API testing experience, and familiarity with LLM providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic).
• AI Knowledge: Understanding of embeddings, vector databases, and similarity search.
• Tools: Experience with LLM evaluation frameworks and automation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of processor architecture, memory hierarchies, cache, and system design fundamentals.
• Understanding of basic OS concepts, multithreading, synchronization, and POSIX threads.
• Knowledge of object-oriented software development.
• Background in mathematical operations, including linear algebra and fast-math libraries.
• Knowledge of floating-point and fixed-point representations and quantization concepts.
• Knowledge of parallel computing systems and associated languages such as OpenCL and CUDA is a plus.
