Experience
Minimum 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in aerospace or highly regulated industries
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy / Materials Engineering and/or Advanced certifications in Materials, Special Processes, and Quality are desirable
Role Summary
The M\&P Engineer is responsible for ensuring materials, processes, and special processes used in aerospace applications comply with applicable international standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role involves close collaboration with supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and external suppliers to ensure material integrity, process capability, and continued compliance throughout the product /project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Materials & Process Engineering
- Review, approve, and control materials, raw materials, consumables, and finishes for aerospace components (Castings, Forgings, Sheet metals, Non-metallics, Composites etc)
- Define and approve material specifications, process specifications, and test requirements
- Evaluate material substitutions, obsolescence, and alternate sourcing with risk assessment
- Support design, industrialization, and manufacturing from an M&P perspective
Special Processes
- Technical ownership and oversight of Special Processes, such as:
- Heat Treatment
- Surface Treatments (Anodizing, Plating, Conversion Coatings, Passivation)
- Welding, Brazing, Soldering
- NDT (FPI, MPI, RT, UT)
- Painting and Coatings
- Ensure compliance with NADCAP, customer, and regulatory special process requirements
- Support special process qualification, validation, and re‑qualification activities
International Specifications & Standards
- Strong working knowledge and application of international aerospace specifications, including but not limited to:
- AMS, ASTM, MIL, SAE, ISO, DIN, EN
- Knowledge on Customer specifications (Boeing, Airbus, Safran, Collins, Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney etc.) will be added advantage.
- Interpret, flow down, and ensure compliance of specifications across internal teams and suppliers
Supply Chain & Supplier Management
- Technical interface with suppliers and sub‑tier suppliers for materials and special processes
- Evaluate supplier technical capability, material compliance, and process robustness
- Support supplier audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain to mitigate single‑source and material risk
Compliance & Quality Support
- Support internal and external audits (AS9100, NADCAP, customer audits)
- Review and disposition non‑conformances related to materials and processes
- Provide M&P input for MRB (Material review Board), root cause/failuire analysis, and corrective/preventive actions
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in aerospace materials and special processes
- Strong understanding of international aerospace specifications and regulatory requirements
- Experience working with global supply chains and approved/qualified supplier lists
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, material callouts, and process flows
- Excellent documentation, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills including chamge management.
- High attention to detail with an audit‑focused and compliance‑driven mindset
Preferred Experience
- Experience in OEM, Tier‑1, or Tier‑2 aerospace environments
- Exposure to NADCAP / NABL /CQA/CQI audits and special process approvals
- Experience supporting qualification programs, new supplier development, or localization initiatives
