Job description

About Us

Mindstorm Studios designs, develops, and markets some of the top games and interactive entertainment in the world today. That's the mission our founders began with back in 2006 and we continue to uphold and bring the highest quality products to market.

Mindstorm is  headquartered in San Francisco with development in Lahore. Our products have been downloaded over 300 million times globally with #1 worldwide chart toppers like Hexa Sort, Super Salon, Flick Pool, and Alliance Wars.

We are looking for the best and brightest minds in game development to join our team so we can empower our talent to keep creating World’s #1 Games.

Role

Love games and dream of making the next big hit? We're looking for a super-passionate and driven Game Designer to join our awesome team in Lahore! If you really get how game design and development works, we want to hear from you!

What will you be doing?

  • Design, Tune, and Test: You'll be building, tuning, and rigorously testing new and existing features for our free-to-play mobile games to make sure they're super fun and perform well.
  • Game Systems and Economies: Get ready to design captivating game systems, solid economies, and cool live events for our huge global player base.
  • Data-Driven Optimization: We'll need you to dive into live game data to tune, iterate, and balance game economies and the difficulty. Use data-backed hypotheses and A/B testing to boost monetization, engagement, and retention.
  • UX/UI Know-How: Put your knowledge of User Experience (UX) principles and wireframing to work in your designs.
  • Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: Partner closely with designers, artists, and engineers to craft an awesome and engaging gaming experience.
  • Clear Communication: Clearly share your design choices with everyone involved. You'll also create, keep up-to-date, and maintain all the necessary game documentation.
  • Keeping the Creative Vision Alive: Stick with the team to track, document, and give feedback on the creative direction for all in-game features and systems.

What are we looking for?

What You'll Need (Qualifications & Skills)

  • Your Background: A Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, Game Dev, Multimedia Arts, Communication Design, or something similar is great! If you have the experience instead of the degree, that works too.
  • Design Know-How: You should really get the basics of design, have good instincts, be a clear thinker, and know your way around game mechanics.
  • Experience: Ideally, you've spent 0-2 years as a Designer, especially if it was on casual/hyper-casual Free-to-Play mobile games. Similar experience is a plus!
  • Core Skills: Show us you're a strong creative problem-solver and critical thinker, and that you can communicate your ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Gaming World Awareness: Keep up with what's hot in gaming and know how to turn that knowledge into awesome design features.
  • Work Style: Be a proactive team player who's open to feedback and always looking to make your designs better.

Great Extras (Not Must-Haves, But Super Useful)

  • Be comfortable using design and dev tools like the Google Suite (Sheets, Docs), Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop), Figma, Unity, and some Data Analysis Tools.

Things that get you extra points

  • You're naturally Curious and Observant, with an eye for the small stuff (Attention to detail).
  • You pick things up quickly and are keen on keeping up with the latest in game standards and dev tech.
  • You take feedback really well and know how to use it to make your work better.
  • It's a bonus if you've played around with or know about A/B testing.
  • You have a real Passion for games—you actually play mobile, console, and PC titles.

What are we offering?

  • Exposure: Best-in-class learning & exposure to the global game industry having top level game development know-how & career progression
  • Culture: A progressive team & unmatched work environment with a flat hierarchy where you take ownership of your goals & become part of a team that will support & help you succeed.
  • Vacations: 5 weeks’ paid time-off per annum, wedding/paternal leave, paid sick leave
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Provident fund, full healthcare (in-patient & out-patient), fuel allowance, subsidized lunches, fitness allowance, gadget discounts, yearly bonuses.
  • Perks: HR events, team lunches, movie nights, monthly birthdays, company retreats, games/sports competitions & much more!

Disclaimer: Mindstorm Studios is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All aspects of employment including the decision to hire, promote, discipline, or discharge, will be based on merit, competence, & performance
