Job Description

The position is responsible for understanding customer FortiNet security needs, implementing solutions on behalf of the customer, migrating existing firewalls into newly deployed FortiNet appliances, completing FortiNet initial customer configurations and user acceptance testing, configuring and supporting integrations with supported third party applications and systems, troubleshooting and resolving customer FortiNet implementations, completing change requests, monitoring security appliances, acting upon and resolving security notifications, pro-actively improving security implementations, keeping abreast of the evolving products and services made available by FortiNet and is partners, and ensuring that the customer and agent FortiNet appliance service experience is positive.


Cybersecurity specialists have these specific responsibilities:


Safeguards information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems.


Protects system by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources.


Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities; reporting violations.


Implements security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.


Determines security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.


Upgrades system by implementing and maintaining security controls.


Keeps users and customers informed by preparing performance reports and communicating system status.


Maintains quality service by following organization standards.


Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.


Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Have the ability to perform troubleshooting on active accounts

Qualifications

Skills required for the FortiNet Security Specialist position:


Active member of a 24x7 team of FortiNet security specialists


System administration


Network security


Problem solving


Information security policies


On-call network troubleshooting


Firewall administration


Network protocols


Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience


2+ years of full-time hands-on experience in designing, configuring, implementing, monitoring, and resolving issues on FortiNetFortiGuard security appliances.  Note:  Experience gained in a traditional repair or NOC position do not normally qualify as meeting this requirement.


Advanced FortiNet security certifications


Industry certifications such as SANS GIAC/GCIA/GCIH, Security+ CE, CISSP or CASP


Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements.


Hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data (e.g. Netflow, FPC), and other attack artifacts in support of incident investigations


Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions
