As a Data Scientist - Generative AI Foundation Specialist, you will occupy a critical technical role focused on building and scaling the next generation of agentic infrastructure within Genentech. You will drive the development of extensible multi-agent systems, ensuring robust governance and the transformation of traditional services into advanced agentic components. As a key technical influencer, you will stay at the forefront of Generative AI infrastructure, security, and observability, fostering deep collaborations across the global Roche organization to deliver innovative AI solutions that solve complex healthcare challenges.

Your Opportunity:

Infrastructure & System Transformation (Primary Focus):

• Agentic Infrastructure: Build an extensible multi-agent infrastructure designed for a fast-moving team within a large enterprise environment

  
  

• System Evolution: Design and build the required infrastructure to turn traditional services into agentic components and transform traditional ML models into agents.

  
  

• MCP Integration: Convert traditional API services into Model Context Protocol (MCP) compliant tools to enhance system interoperability

  
  

• Governance & Security: Design and implement proper governance frameworks for agents and data sources to ensure secure and compliant operations

  
  

Technical Innovation & Leadership (Primary Focus):

• Strategic Influence: Influence technical decisions and priorities while staying on the cutting edge of LLMs and multimodal agentic architectures

  
  

• Technical Currency: Proactively bring in the newest technologies in the fields of Generative AI infrastructure, security, and observability

  
  

• Organizational Representation: Represent the team and the global Roche organization on foundational AI topics

  
  

• Strategic Collaboration: Maintain thriving relationships with internal and external partners to foster deep collaboration

  
  

Performance & Data Architecture (Secondary Focus):

• Observability Mastery: Utilize advanced observability tools to monitor and evaluate the health of agentic systems

  
  

• System Optimization: Apply a deep understanding of factors impacting performance, such as cost, reliability, and latency, to optimize agentic systems

  
  

• RAG & Data Mastery: Implement mastery of RAG architecture, document optimization (chunking), and vector/graph databases

  
  

• SQL Techniques: Utilize SQL and AI-generated SQL techniques to handle complex data requirements

  
  

Coaching, Culture, and Compliance:

• Mentorship: Coach team members and stakeholders to become more AI-savvy

  
  

• Strategic Insights: Surface potential systemic issues to leadership to ensure continuous improvement

  
  

• Innovation Mindset: Maintain a willingness to take risks, fail forward, and compromise based on business priorities

  
  

• Compliance: Ensure all activities strictly comply with laws, regulations, and policies governing Roche

  
  

Who you are: 

• You are someone holds achelor’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Data Science, AI, etc.). and minimum 4+ years of experience, with 3 years of dedicated experience building infrastructure for Generative AI products in B2B environments

  
  

• Protocols & Tools: You possess mastery of Gen AI tools, MCP, and A2A protocols

  
  

• Framework Expertise: You have hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, AWS Agentcore, or similar frameworks

  
  

• Data Architecture: You demonstrate mastery of vector and graph databases

  
  

• RAG Mastery: You are an expert in RAG architecture and document optimization methods like chunking

  
  

• Communication: You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical architectures to non-technical stakeholders

  
  

Good to Have

• Multimodal AI: Experience with multimodal Gen AI tools, particularly voice-based interfaces

  
  

• Security: Practical experience with common security protocols

  
  

• Industry Context: Previous experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated industries
