Job description

To manage and engineer multi-discipline design projects from conceptual through to detail design within tight time and cost constraints to an acceptable quality.
Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (B.Sc. / M.Sc./B.Eng.) and/or membership of internationally accepted applicable professional Institute.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience post engineering graduation involving design and engineering out of which minimum 3 years should be in general project engineering of oil and gas facilities, with a sound knowledge of project cost control/ planning, systems.
Time must have been spent as a single-point responsible engineering project engineer for medium size oil/ gas/ refinery petrochemical projects. Sound commercial appreciation and judgment. Good presentation skills and spoken/written English and PC literate
Good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to form, smoothly interact and motivate a team within a matrix type organization and run numerous design projects simultaneously.
• Single point responsibility for the execution of design engineering projects.
• To fully understand the requirements of the office quality system and ensure these requirements are met.
• Ensure that HSE matters are given due consideration in project planning.
• Ensure projects are executed in line with Client/International/ standards and specifications.
• Actively pursue the evaluation and application of new technology in order to optimize future developments in terms of cost and operability.
• Supervise advice and guide the discipline staff to ensure that their work is of the required quality. Highlight issues that may arise in priorities, workload, competency, etc.
• To develop the scope of work handed over by the Client’s project engineer for each project to achieve the specified deliverables.
• Exercising control over manpower and material resources in order to execute the project within budget, schedule, quality and HSE requirements.
• To exercise change control and variance control on each project.
• To ensure the communication with, and involvement of, all interested disciplines to each project. Reporting progress on projects to the Client’s project engineer in a timely manner, highlighting issues which could impact on quality, cost, schedule or HSE matters.
• To actively train and encourage the development of Omani staff to fulfill project engineer roles.
• Prepare technical documentation for Company tender documentation.
