Marine Superintendent – LNG (12‑Month Renewable Contract)

Location: Oman
Work Scheme: Preparation Phase (Residential) + 28/28 Rotation (Operations Phase)

NES Fircroft is supporting a major LNG development in Oman and is looking for an experienced Marine Superintendent to join the project on a long‑term contract basis. This position will play a key role in both the pre‑operations readiness phase and the live operational phase of a new LNG bunkering and terminal facility.
Role Overview The Marine Superintendent will act as the project’s marine authority, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient marine operations throughout the lifecycle of the terminal. The role is split into two phases:
Preparation Phase (Muscat – Residential)
  • Develop marine procedures, standards and operational readiness plans
  • Support ship–shore compatibility assessments and marine risk evaluations
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies and port authorities
  • Contribute to marine assurance, audits and compliance activities
  • Support commissioning and pre‑start‑up readiness for marine systems
Operations Phase (Sohar – 28/28 Rotation)
  • Oversee LNG bunkering, berthing and loading operations
  • Supervise Loading and Bunkering Masters
  • Act as focal point for routine, abnormal and emergency marine situations
  • Lead marine assurance activities including inspections and vetting
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance and HSE teams
  • Oversee logistics, warehouse and lifting operations related to marine activities
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe and compliant marine operations in line with international standards
  • Maintain strong interface with port authorities, vessel operators and terminal teams
  • Lead incident investigations and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all marine equipment, lifting gear and operational systems remain certified and compliant
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to marine personnel
Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Master Mariner (Class 1) with Gas/LNG endorsement
  • Extensive LNG carrier experience including loading, discharging and ship–shore interface
  • Shore‑based Marine Superintendent experience within LNG, LPG or tanker operations
  • Strong knowledge of SIGTTO, ISGOTT and OCIMF standards
  • Experience in marine assurance (vetting, audits, inspections)
  • Proven HSE leadership and incident investigation capability
  • Experience coordinating with port authorities and regulatory bodies
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
