Position Title : Senior Engineer / Engineer – Cost Estimation, Proposal and Inside Sales

Job Role Summary

Reporting to the Manager - Marketing and Head of Proposals, the Senior Engineer / Engineer - Marketing is responsible for cost estimation, customized proposal development, and tender submissions in a designated territory. This role ensures timely completion of costing and proposals in consultation with Design, Supply Chain, Services, Production, and Assembly teams, managing the enquiry system and contributing to booking targets and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze enquiries with clear demarcation of scope and decide on in-house versus subcontracting based on manufacturing capabilities.

• Interact with customers to understand requirements with complete clarity.

• Articulate customer requirements to obtain accurate inputs from various stakeholders.

• Manage cost inputs effectively to reduce delivery times for proposals.

• Monitor domestic and international cost factors, including currency fluctuations, to revalidate costing and inform the marketing team.

• Prepare price reasonability and justifications using applicable factors to convince customers.

• Conduct data mining to identify factors impacting costing.

• Manage costing and proposals for easy traceability.

• Leverage industry benchmarks to optimize cost competitiveness in proposals.

• Maintain an updated repository of past proposals for quick reference and reuse.

• Support senior team members in client negotiations to gain hands-on experience.

• Assist in training new team members on proposal preparation processes.

• Document lessons learned from tender submissions to improve future bids.

• Ability to understand and communicate in Hindi is essential.

• Basic understanding of project management tools to track proposal timelines.

• Familiarity with CRM systems

• Basic knowledge of technical drawing software to review engineering specifications.

• Familiarity with basic financial analysis to support cost justifications.

Experience and Track Record

• Minimum 3-6 years of experience in the capital goods industry.

• Proven experience in costing and proposals for Engineered-To-Order products, preferably rotary equipment (e.g., gears, pumps, compressors, generators, couplings, turbines).

• Proven track record of submitting private and government tenders.

• Experience in supporting senior team members in high-stakes tenders.

Qualifications

• Desirable: BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
