Overview

Prismecs is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer / Controls TA – Demobilization Project (Oman) to support control systems, instrumentation, and electrical coordination during plant shutdown and demobilization activities.


This role is project-based (estimated 2–4 months) and we are hiring locally within Oman for immediate mobilization.


The Controls Engineer will be responsible for ensuring safe system shutdown, control system integrity, troubleshooting, and coordination of instrumentation and control activities throughout the demobilization process. This role requires strong experience with turbine control systems, SCADA, and power plant environments.


Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance (HSE)
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures for all control and instrumentation activities

• Support PTW and LOTO procedures during shutdown execution

• Coordinate with HSE team to ensure safe system isolation and control readiness

• Report any safety issues, incidents, or equipment failures immediately

Shutdown & Demobilization Support
• Support safe shutdown of control, electrical, and instrumentation systems

• Assist in system isolation, deactivation, and preparation for dismantling

• Ensure control systems are safely transitioned offline

• Support troubleshooting during shutdown and dismantling phases

• Coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, and CRO teams for execution

Control Systems & Technical Operations

• Work with turbine control systems including:


  • Woodward Micronet / Micronet+
  • GE Mark V, Mark VI, Mark VIe, Mark VIeS
  • Bently Nevada 3500
• Configure and support HMI systems (Wonderware, Cimplicity, iFix)

• Operate SCADA, protection, and control systems as required

• Perform inspections, functional tests, loop checks, and troubleshooting

• Support commissioning, test bench, and system verification activities

Maintenance & Engineering Support
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities

• Maintain logs, reports, and system documentation

• Ensure systems meet OEM and project technical requirements

• Provide engineering support to Plant Manager and site teams

• Review third-party control and instrumentation work

Coordination & Reporting
• Coordinate with Plant Manager on scope, maintenance, and interventions

• Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities

• Assist in inventory planning for control systems, tools, and consumables

• Provide technical reporting and system performance updates

Training & Team Support
• Mentor and support plant personnel on control systems

• Work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams

• Support shift operations and additional assigned activities

Qualifications

Required:


• Degree in Control, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in controls engineering or technical support

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in power plants (TM2500, LM6000, or similar)

• Strong experience with turbine control systems:

  • Woodward Micronet / Micronet+
  • GE Mark V / VI / VIe / VIeS
  • Bently Nevada 3500
• Experience with SCADA, HMI systems (Wonderware, Cimplicity, iFix)

• Experience with loop checks, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting

• Strong knowledge of control systems and instrumentation

Additional Requirements
Must be currently based in Oman (local hiring only)

Available for immediate start

Available for project duration (2–4 months)

Preferred
• Experience in shutdown or demobilization projects

• Experience with ABB, ComAp, or DEIF control systems

• Experience with power system modeling tools (ETAP, SKM, etc.)

• Knowledge of CSA, NEC, IEEE, ANSI standards

• Experience with CMMS systems and predictive maintenance
