Job description

The British School Yangon

About the role

We are looking for an outstanding Computer Science Teacher to join our Secondary team from August 2026. This role would suit an adaptable, flexible team player with high expectations for our students; someone who can design engaging and challenging learning activities for all and create a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved.

Your love of computer science will inspire and encourage students to achieve outstanding results in your classes, including KS3, IGCSE, and A-Level.

As part of the STEAM faculty, you will enjoy collaborating with colleagues and working to foster interdisciplinary projects and approaches to learning. As a colleague in a busy international school, you will play a full part in extracurricular and enrichment activities which support and supplement our students’ education.

About the school

Established in 2014, The British School Yangon (BSY) is the leading British curriculum school in Myanmar. With undoubtedly the best facilities in the city, we offer a genuine and personalised approach to both our students’ learning and our teachers’ wellbeing and professional development. For those with an enthusiastic, collaborative, professional approach to learning and to life, this may well be the perfect opportunity for you.

Our purpose-built school boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a covered sports field, 25-metre swimming pool, two gymnasiums, and a 500-seat theatre. We have state-of-art science labs, as well as specialist music, drama and art rooms. All year groups have extensive play facilities and outdoor spaces. The latest technology features strongly throughout the school and in our modern, air-conditioned classrooms with interactive white boards and wireless connectivity. The school also accommodates the famous Yangon Bakehouse coffee shop, an inviting setting for our community to benefit from. We have a strong and extremely supportive parent community, and our students are enthusiastic and creative learners who are a joy to teach.

About you

You will be an outstanding, inspirational and resilient practitioner, willing to adapt quickly to a new and vibrant culture and one who builds strong and positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues. You will possess a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification, and at least two years of teaching experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school’s level of achievement.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Yangon, Myanmar including you must hold a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate relevant to this post
