Summary for the Role The Utilities Inspector is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and verifying all utilities‑related construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
The role supports quality assurance, safety compliance, and coordination across multiple utility disciplines within building and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities Conduct daily inspections of utilities works, including potable water, firefighting networks, stormwater, sewerage, irrigation, and other underground services.
Monitor excavation, backfilling, pipe laying, compaction, pressure testing, and utilities connections.
Review and comment on shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents related to utilities systems.
Prepare inspection requests, daily reports, and follow up on corrective actions.
Ensure proper coordination between utilities contractors and other disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical).
Identify and report any deviations, safety concerns, or quality issues on site.
Support testing and commissioning activities for utilities networks.
Participate in site meetings and assist in resolving technical issues.
Support project close‑out activities including snagging, as‑built verification, and handover documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 10 years of experience in utilities inspection within building and infrastructure projects.
Diploma degree Engineering, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of utilities standards and regulations.
Experience with underground utilities installation, testing, and commissioning.
Ability to read and interpret utilities drawings, profiles, and technical documents.
Strong reporting, communication, and coordination skills.
Familiarity with quality control procedures and safety requirements.
Experience working with consultants or contractors on large‑scale infrastructure projects is preferred.
