Job Purpose:
To oversee the safe, efficient, and timely execution of breakbulk and heavy-lift cargo handling activities. This role involves supervising equipment usage, managing manpower, and ensuring operational compliance under high-demand conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with vessel agents, stevedores, crane operators, transport providers, and terminal teams for seamless cargo operations.
- Supervise the loading, unloading, lashing, and securing of oversized, non-containerized, and project cargo per SOPs.
- Review cargo and lifting plans, stowage instructions, and associated documentation to ensure operational accuracy.
- Enforce safety standards, monitor equipment condition, and ensure personnel readiness; take corrective actions where required.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to cargo movement, manpower deployment, and equipment utilization.
Skills
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in breakbulk, heavy-lift, or project cargo operations at a port or terminal.
- Sound knowledge of rigging practices, crane operations, and port logistics.
- Proficient in interpreting cargo documentation, lifting plans, and load charts.
- Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
