Role Overview
We are looking for a Commis 3 Chef to join our Calo team. The Commis 3 will support the kitchen team with basic food preparation and daily kitchen operations while maintaining Calo’s hygiene, safety, and quality standards.
The successful candidate will assist with tasks such as chopping, slicing, portioning, cleaning, ingredient handling, and supporting chefs, stewards, and kitchen helpers to ensure smooth kitchen operations. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow within a fast-paced kitchen environment and gain hands-on culinary experience.
For this role, we are seeking candidates with experience in hospitality, restaurants, central kitchens, or food production environments.
Relationships & Working Expectations



  • Works under the guidance of senior chefs, CDPs, and kitchen supervisors



  • Supports kitchen operations alongside stewards, kitchen helpers, and production staff



  • Works closely with Kitchen Management and Production Leads to maintain workflow efficiency



  • Shift-based work in temperature-controlled environments with mandatory personal protective equipment during all production operation times




Main Responsibilities



  • Assist with basic food preparation including chopping, slicing, peeling, trimming, and portioning ingredients



  • Support chefs with mise en place and ingredient preparation as per standardized recipes



  • Assist with receiving, storing, labeling, and rotating ingredients following FIFO practices



  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations, storage areas, and preparation areas



  • Support stewards and kitchen helpers with cleaning duties and maintaining sanitation standards



  • Ensure preparation tasks are completed efficiently and on time to support production and dispatch operations



  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards at all times



  • Assist in minimizing waste through proper handling and storage of ingredients



  • Support the kitchen team during busy operational periods and maintain teamwork across all sections



  • Carry out any additional kitchen support duties assigned by senior chefs or supervisors




Ideal Candidate
Qualifications



  • Previous experience in restaurants, hotels, catering, central kitchens, or food production environments preferred



  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards



  • HACCP knowledge or certification is an advantage



  • Currently based in Kuwait




Knowledge & Competency



  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food preparation techniques



  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume kitchen environment



  • Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team



  • Basic communication skills in English
