The Driver / Dispatch & Stores Assistant is responsible for the safe, timely and hygienic transportation of food, beverages, equipment and event items from the commercial kitchen to outlets, clients and event sites. The role also provides structured support to stores and dispatch operations when not on delivery duty, ensuring that stock movement, packing, staging, loading and vehicle readiness are managed efficiently.
Safely transport prepared food, beverages, kitchen equipment and event supplies to designated delivery locations.
Ensure all deliveries are dispatched on time, in full and in line with approved schedules or event timelines.
Load, arrange and secure items properly to prevent spillage, crushing, shifting, contamination or presentation damage during transport.
Check deliveries against dispatch notes, transfer sheets, invoices or event checklists before departure and at handover.
Obtain proof of delivery, signed handover or other required confirmation for each completed delivery.
Maintain separation of hot food, cold food, dry goods, chemicals and equipment during loading and transport.
Communicate delays, access issues, missing items, vehicle breakdowns or other service risks immediately.
During periods with no active deliveries, the role should remain aligned to logistics, dispatch and stores support rather than general cooking duties. Typical responsibilities should include:
Assisting with receiving and offloading deliveries from suppliers.
Moving stock to the correct storage areas including dry store, chiller, freezer and dispatch zones.
Helping arrange stock neatly and supporting FIFO / FEFO rotation practices.
Picking, packing, labeling and staging items for dispatch based on requisitions or event orders.
Assisting with loading of hot boxes, cool boxes, crates, buffet equipment and related transport items.
Cleaning and organizing transport equipment such as crates, insulated carriers, trolleys and holding boxes.
Supporting stock counts, shelf organization and internal stock transfers between kitchen, stores and dispatch areas.
Cleaning the vehicle cargo area and checking that the vehicle remains hygienic and ready for the next dispatch.
Reporting damaged stock, shortages, spill risks, packaging concerns or any storage non-conformance.
Ensure food is transported in appropriate sealed and insulated packaging to preserve safety, quality and temperature control.
Confirm that soups, sauces, beverages and other liquid items are upright, sealed and stable before departure.
Avoid rough handling, overspeeding, harsh braking, sudden acceleration and unsafe cornering that may cause food movement or spillage.
You'll no longer be considered for this role and your application will be removed from the employer's inbox.
