PURPOSE OF THE JOB



The mechanical Integration Lead Engineer is accountable for Installation developement by :


- Agreeing the inputs with Train level stakeholders


- Piloting the mechanical development for "make design" or ensuring the suplier interface for "buy design"


- Contributing to 1st mounting train review and production support


MLE position is often cumulated, with SE or SSL. In this situation the accountability perimeter is more global and several design activities are delegated to ME or an aditional MLE.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES



Performance Measurement/KPI’s


- On-time delivery of CBS scope ( specifications, 3D, 2D, validation plan,...)


- Quality of deliverables (first time right)


- Capability to pilot problem solving



Responsibilities


Accountable for


- Managing requirements (from source requirement analysis to conformity proof for validation & certification)


- Producing RSL1 for SA car body shell and crash (under delegation of SSL)


- Managing weight decomposition for car body shell in relation with Weight Discipline Engineer


- Building design solution, in accordance with project inputs (Train Level & Sub-System Group) and co-engineering context:


-- Producing space allocation model, agreeing interfaces and volumes with train level, and with internal & external suppliers


-- Driving the main parts design and securing relevant pre-dimensioning


-- Piloting development including dimensioning verification by FEA and Crash teams


-- Ensuring consistency between released design, configuration used for simulations (FEA/crash) and associated results


-- Ensuring calculation meching consistency with technical 3D definition


-- Producing the parts design and the installations integration drawings


-- Driving the relevant operational design team (MLE if any, ME, CAD)


- When applicable:


-- Writting of CBS or CBS subassembly procurement specification


-- Piloting technical contractualization with selected supplier and ensuring interface during development


- In case design is targeted to be a carry over from existing train solution, securing design conformity with project inputs


- Instructing & rising trade off to the relevant project or metier governance, proposing solutions


- Documenting & releasing the installations files and ensuring interface with industrial ERP


- Attending or delegating participation to train industrial integration reviews


- Managing corrective actions on relevant design scope during production and validation (from equipment level to train level)


Responsible for


All design activities in the scope can be delegated to the design team, however the MLE will remain Responsible (doer) for


- Verifying design, at deliverable level (AVVA) and at SA level (DRCL)


- Relevant storing of deliverables in DMU


- Managing team, implementing problem solving methodologies


- Escalating technical issues to SSM (incl mitigation plan)


Contributes to


- Architecture definition at train physical architecture level (A is TAM or TMIE) and system Level 1 (A is SE or DE), including:


-- Constraints repartition between design scopes, technical or lead time arbitrations


-- Day to day governance and issue solving


- For continuous improvement of the Domain (including RoE) (A is Domain leader)


- Definition of mitigation plans in case of technical issue or targets not reached (multi-domains)


- Support of Sourcing, Industrialization and Manufacturing teams during Production ramp-up


- Collaboration with Structural Design Domain Leader for continuous improvement of the Domain (including RoE)


- Establishing of Certification & Validation Plans for TD scope

Educational Requirements & Experience



Mandatory:


  • Graduated from Mechanical Engineering school with Master of Science degree

Experience



Mandatory:


- Mechanical Design Engineering applied to Railway products with 5 years of experience


Desirable:


- Calculation experience in heavy industry
