The Site WHS Officer will be responsible for partnering with the site operations team at a QC Hub (co-located fulfillment center) to execute Amazon safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for associates. The WHS Officer must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. This individual must be an effective communicator, instruct and train Operations Leaders in company safety policies, and identify best practices to continuously improve safety standards. The WHS Officer will report to the site WHS Manager.
Key job responsibilities
- Execute daily safety standard work including safety metrics analysis, site audits and inspections, incident reporting and investigation, and risk assessments across all operational processes
- Partner with site operations and Workplace Health & Safety leadership to drive compliance with Amazon safety standards, procedures, and applicable local regulations throughout the fulfillment center
- Manage dock and yard safety operations, including vehicle loading and unloading safety, equipment usage protocols, yard coordination, and risk mitigation strategies
- Conduct heat index monitoring across operational zones and implement job rotation protocols according to established safety standards
- Lead incident investigation processes, develop corrective actions, and ensure timely closure of all assigned safety actions
- Coach associates and operations leaders on safety requirements including personal protective equipment compliance, emergency evacuation procedures, and safe work practices
- Manage personal protective equipment issuance and compliance, maintain safety supplies inventory, and coordinate with medical support services
- Support compliance activities, safety observations, committee meetings, and facility safety documentation
- Perform compliance checks on transportation and dock operations, report quality and safety concerns, and oversee related workflows
- Support risk assessment updates, change management processes, and safety planning validation for the facility
A day in the life
As a Site Workplace Health & Safety Officer, your primary focus will be executing daily safety standard work and leading continuous improvement initiatives across our Quick Commerce Hub. You'll begin your day reviewing safety metrics and conducting site audits to identify potential risks in our operational processes. Throughout your shift, you'll partner closely with operations leaders to ensure compliance with Amazon safety standards and applicable local regulations.
Your responsibilities will extend beyond routine inspections—you'll investigate incidents, analyze safety data, and develop actionable solutions to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks. You'll conduct training sessions with operations teams on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and best practices. You'll also manage specialized safety operations like dock and yard safety, heat index monitoring, and personal protective equipment compliance. Additionally, you'll coordinate with various teams to ensure smooth shift coverage and vehicle movement management, while serving as a trusted advisor to operations leadership on safety matters.
- Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or a related field
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or Science; or equivalent qualification with a Diploma in Fire & Safety or Nebosh IGC certification
- Master's degree in Health and Safety or a related field
- Experience implementing and enforcing safety standards within warehouse and maintenance environments
- Experience in transportation operations and industry knowledge
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Experience in problem solving and data analytics
