Job Description: Validation and Integration (VI) Lead Engineer, Senior



The VI Lead Engineer, Senior is responsible for pre‑silicon and post‑silicon validation of Qualcomm IPs, ensuring functional correctness and readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI) and mass production. The role requires hardware and software expertise to execute validation across system‑level environments.



The engineer owns validation activities for assigned IP components or functional areas, ensuring functionality meets device specifications and external customer requirements. Responsibilities include defining validation plans, developing test hardware and measurement techniques, and delivering test automation and data analysis to support cell, sub‑system, and system‑level validation. The role also includes debugging validation failures, driving issue resolution, and communicating results through NPI phase reviews and program forums.



This is a hands‑on technical leadership role requiring independent execution and technical judgment. The engineer is expected to own validation initiatives within their scope, provide technical direction for assigned areas, and deliver outcomes aligned with program schedules and business objectives.




Key Responsibilities



  • Lead or drive test requirements capture and support program reviews.
  • Define and break down tasks, including resource, schedule, and risk considerations for assigned work areas.
  • Independently develop and deliver complex pre-silicon test hardware, automation, and test reports.
  • Independently develop and deliver complex post-silicon test hardware, automation, and test reports.
  • Drive technical debug, root cause analysis, and resolution of validation issues.
  • Deliver and maintain automation and hardware solutions for validation activities.
  • Contribute to and help drive relevant department documentation.
  • Conduct or support peer reviews for scripts, hardware, and validation approaches.
  • Collate, analyze, summarize, and present validation data for technical and program reviews.
  • Automate standard lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and audio analyzers.
  • Support the team through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and good engineering practices.
  • Dedicate time to learning and development in leadership, automation, test methodology, equipment, and relevant technical domains.

Required Skills



  • Strong knowledge of analogue and digital semiconductor circuits.
  • Strong knowledge of lab test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, audio analyzers, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience with validation activities across pre-silicon and/or post-silicon environments.
  • Proficiency in test automation using languages such as Python, C, C# and R-LanguageS
  • Familiarity with emulation-based testing using C.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and the ability to derive clear insights from datasets.
  • Ability to independently own technical assignments and deliver against project goals.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and business needs.

Preferred Skills



  • Technical leadership experience on projects or workstreams.
  • Knowledge of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC standards.
  • Good knowledge of Analog and Digital Audio, PMU, Battery Management, Auxiliary functions, Peripherals, and Power Optimization techniques.
  • Strong firmware and software understanding.

Minimum Qualifications 



  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 4+ years of industry experience in pre-silicon or post-silicon validation. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline with 5+ years in industry experience in pre-silicon or post-silicon validation.


Minimum Qualifications:



• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Minimum Qualifications 



  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 4+ years of industry experience in pre-silicon or post-silicon validation.
