Job description

Amazon is looking for a motivated, customer-focused UX Designer II to help build engaging experiences. This is an opportunity for designers who can deliver solutions for difficult design and technical problems where the product strategy is defined. In this role, you will work alongside product management and engineering to define and deliver the right customer experience. Feature requirements and technical feasibility are mostly defined, but customer needs at the feature level may not be — you'll use design best practices, qualitative and quantitative data, and your knowledge of the technology stack to arrive at the right outcome. This position requires a strong customer focus, the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse groups, and the willingness to challenge the status quo as you advocate for customers.
You are a designer with 3+ years of industry experience working on real products that people use every day. You are an organized self-starter who delivers independently and seeks direction at times. You apply expertise in at least one core UX discipline, method, and/or process. You are an effective collaborator who can present — and defend — a variety of solutions, representing the benefits and challenges of each approach to other designers, product managers, and partners. You understand the value of user testing and prototyping, and you use market analysis, site metrics, and usability findings to inform your design decisions. You balance short- and long-term design requirements against engineering constraints, and you recognize patterns in UX solutions that can inform technical solutions. Above all, you are passionate about solving real problems for real people through research, design, and iteration.
You will work with members of the design, product, and engineering teams to create interfaces that are attractive, useful, and usable. Your work impacts product-level customer experience and design trade-offs, and may impact product roadmaps and product metrics. You will be responsible for developing your ideas from concept to completion, presenting them to stakeholders, and working directly with developers to bring them to life. You consistently deliver high-quality artifacts.
We are looking for a designer who can:
- Deliver solutions for difficult design and technical problems, using best design practices to arrive at the right customer outcome
- Produce user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and user interface specifications that consistently meet a high quality bar
- Identify and aggregate qualitative and quantitative data to inform design solutions at the feature and product level
- Improve design patterns, standards, methods, and/or processes for the team
- Work closely with engineering to effectively incorporate capabilities and constraints of the technology stack
- Participate and present in reviews at the cross-team level, sharing knowledge to help improve the work of others
- Contribute to cross-team mechanisms and methods that improve process efficiency and delivery
- Apply knowledge of industry landscape and trends to make informed decisions and recommendations on team goals and design strategy
- Communicate difficult technical and product decisions to partners clearly and concisely
- Accelerate progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, clearing blockers, and escalating appropriately
- Begin to mentor peers and help train new team members on how deliverables are built and how they fit into the bigger picture
- 3+ years of design experience
- Bachelor's degree
