Job description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Define firmware architecture for motion control systems.
  • Architect and review HDL designs (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog)
  • Design FPGA-based real-time stacks (IO-Link, EtherCAT, PROFINET, CANopen) with multi-axis synchronization.
  • Architect SIL2/SIL3-compliant firmware per IEC 61508 / ISO 13849 including implementation of safety mechanisms
  • Initialization and validation of hardware (board bring-up)
  • Develop and lead a development team
  • Provide architectural guidance to firmware and FPGA engineers.
  • International collaboration in a global engineering network.

Who You Are:
  • As a Tech Lead/ Architect specializing in FPGA-based motion control systems. Your key focus areas include system and firmware architecture, motion control algorithms (FOC, torque/speed/position loops), industrial communication protocols (IO-Link, EtherCAT, CANopen, PROFINET) with SIL2/SIL3 safety compliance, and hardware–firmware co-design. You excel at delivering deterministic, scalable, and safety-critical motion control solutions while leading FPGA development frameworks.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • 15+ years in embedded firmware development for high-performance motion control systems (servo drives, robotics, industrial automation).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • Hands on experience in VHDL; FPGA tool flows for Altera Max10, Altera Cyclone 10, Agilex 3 etc.
  • Motion Control Algorithms: Knowledge on FOC, torque/speed/position loops, trajectory planning, sensorless control techniques
  • Industrial Communication: Knowledge on IO-Link, EtherCAT, CANopen, PROFINET; deterministic multi-axis synchronization.
  • Software & Embedded Skills: ARM/SoC integration, real-time OS, C/C++, VHDL development, firmware debugging and optimization.
  • RTOS/ non RTOS based firmware development.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • MATLAB/Simulink-based design for DSP algorithms.
  • Functional Safety & Compliance: SIL2/SIL3 architectures, IEC 61508 / ISO 13849, safe torque off (STO), redundant monitoring.
  • Leadership & Strategic Skills: Leading cross-functional engineering teams, mentoring senior engineers, defining system-level architecture, establishing scalable FPGA/firmware frameworks.
  • Prior experience in the industrial/ factory automation or control systems industry.
