About the Role



This role willbe responsible formanaging Associate Editors, overseeing their manuscript pipelines, ensuring efficient handling and progression of manuscripts throughout the editorial process. The manager will also contribute to the broader BMC Series pipeline byidentifyingand implementing improvements to enhance the speed and flow of manuscript processing, addressing any bottlenecks or inefficiencies that may arise. 



Role Responsibilities



  • Recruit, train anddevelop a global teamof setting performance goals and individual objectives



  • Support development ofteam trainingresources



  • Drive operational excellence to deliver excellent author service



  • Implement tracking and reporting systems to monitor the team’s performance



  • Contribute to improving the BMC Series pipeline by identifying and resolving bottlenecks to enhance manuscript processing efficiency.




  • Build and maintain the reputation of the BMC Series and Springer Nature in the scientific community by developing strong relationships with individual researchers.



  • Support BMC Series outreach strategy by ensuring effective team engagement, coordinating efforts to align with the wider BMC Series objectives. 



  • Travel to other SN hubs as required



Experience, Skills & Qualifications: 



  • Considerable manuscript-handling editorial experience on a quality peer-reviewed publication.



  • A thorough understanding of the scientific research community and its needs.



  • Sound knowledge and interest in science in general.



  • Strong interpersonal and influentialcommunication skills, with effective presentation skills.



  • Highly self-motivated, resourceful, and achievement oriented. 



  • A creative approach to strategic planning and problem-solving



  • Active, supportive team player.
